Career Workshops for Middle and High School Groups
TEACHERS & GROUP LEADERS:
Inspire your students with a once-in-a-lifetime look into the life of a zoo professional. Whether it is the keepers or vets that care for the animals, or the teams that designs the new exhibits, each job at the zoo is important. These activity-based, hands-on programs are the perfect way to inspire a group of future animal & environmental scientists.
Who: Groups of 10 to 30 students (school groups, scout groups, clubs)
When: Weekdays, Sept-April (weekends are possible, call 303-376-4885 to arrange)
What: See list of topics to choose from below. All workshops involve hands-on activities, live animal demonstrations, guided zoo tours, and the ability to interact with zoo professionals.
Time: 2-4 hour workshops are available. For 2 hour workshops, choose one topic
from the list below; for 4 hour workshops, choose two topics.
Cost: $225 for 2 hours; $425 for 4 hours; cost for custom workshops vary;
$100 for 1-hour, service learning workshop (see description below).
Scholarships are available through Denver Zoo's Red Apple Fund.

When we receive your registration request form, we will do our best to
honor your date requests and you will receive confirmation in the mail
when your registration has been completed. A 1:10 chaperone ratio is
required for all middle and high school programs. If you have further

Career Workshop Topics for Middle and High School Groups:
Animal-Related Careers Overview: Broad overview of animal and zoo careers
Animal Health and Nutrition: Program delves into veterinary and nutrition careers
Animal Husbandry: Detailed and realistic look into the day in the life of a zookeeper
Animal Training: Engaging overview of how keepers train the animals in their care
Exhibit Design 101: Learn how we plan exhibits for animals, staff and visitors to enjoy
Exhibit Design 102:Students will take their exhibit design skills into 3 dimensions!
Environmental Education: Learn what it’s like to be an animal or environmental educator
Primatology: Detailed look at working with and studying primates (monkeys, apes, etc.)
Wildlife Research: Overview of the exotic life of a wildlife research professional
Service Learning: For an additional charge of $100, we can add a one-hour animal enrichment focused service-learning program to any workshop. Students will learn about animal enrichment and will create enrichment items (toys) for our zoo’s animal residents.
